Developers are putting a heavy focus on home offices as more and more people are craving a dedicated at-home workspace. Home offices are now being treated as important as kitchens and I’m loving it! Just as family members share kitchen space, families are often sharing workspaces making it important that they accommodate more than one person. With a heavy focus on detail including lighting, color, comfort and functionality, these spaces have all they need to create a focused work environment. We have been working on a development on the East Side, where our team has taken the lead to ensure the newly built project doesn’t overlook any detail in the home office space! See a sneak preview of our idea book below!
It is important that a home office allows for creative thought and productivity so when it comes to design, I lean towards crisp, clear lines and creative inspiration by way of decorative wallpaper and artwork. Wall-coverings full of lively patterns and painted scenes are trending this year. Wallpaper was an up and coming interior design trend for years, used in small spaces like bathrooms where people felt safe enough to go bold. But in 2021 you’ll start to see it in more spaces including new construction. I love the look of a wallpapered ceiling with monochromatic tones!
Sufficient lighting is imperative for a workspace. This includes the mix of natural light and efficient spot or task lighting. Natural light is so good for the body and mind so if space allows, a built-in window bench is the perfect addition to a home office acting as a sanctuary to read and reflect. I love the addition of drawers to window benches for extra storage. It’s a spot to escape your desk chair, curl up, grab your reading material and soak in some natural light.
